How many of us have worked with a team that marginalized the definition of “innovation” or “agile”?

Personally, I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to work with this team that reminded me of what these buzz words mean. A team that fits these definitions and it is deeply ingrained in their culture. A team that is self-motivating. A team that builds process around people. A team that continuously provides new solutions through valuable, working software while at the same time welcoming changing requirements. Working with this team (in comparison to some others) has taught me a lot. When you’ve worked with teams who are attempting to implement an “agile” methodology without making significant efforts to adjust a “waterfall” culture you can expect to run into all sorts of growing pains. Business requirements that keep pace with customers but slow down with IT implementation being the most obvious. These same experiences can cause you to be unnecessarily suspect when things seem to be running quietly on their own with a truly innovative, agile team. For example, this team has a “flow”. It’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. When I first started working with them (after experiencing some “opportunities for improvement” working with other teams) it was unnerving. Like the calm before the storm. If you’re used to driving (like me), when you realize that things are coming to fruition without your assistance, you might feel inept while you determine your place in the team. For that same reason, this extremely effective team inspired me to “up my game”. I did things I never imagined I could before becoming a member of their Scrum team. They inspired me to be the best I could be. Rapid, consistent, quality delivery is why this team continues getting the “cool” projects at my company. Maybe it’s worth considering a similar team of your own…or take the easy route and contract with Bright Apps yourself!
